The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with rebounding performance in basketball. The participants in this study were high school males (N=12) and females (N=10) and collegiate males (N=7) and females (N=9). The teams were from Emporia High School and Emporia State University in the 1994-95 school year. The participants were tested during sessions on three occasions during the season. Testing included a one repetition maximum lift on the bench press and squat, a vertical jump test and a measurement of the athletes height and weight. Rebounding was assessed by taking the total number of rebounds during each concurrent time frame and dividing this number by the total number of minutes played. A multiple regression analysis was used to evaluate the factors predicted to affect rebounding performance. The factors in this study included: height, weight, position played, level of competition, bench press, squat, vertical jump, and coach's evaluation. All data was analyzed at the (p<.05) level of significance. Results of the tests yield multicollinearity or high correlations among the predicting variables. No relationship was found among the predicting variables and the dependent variable rebounding performance.en_US
