Abstract:
The Vietnam Conflict involved a large and diverse joint effort from American military forces. Within the U.S. Navy, a very small component was the use of frogmen. The history of the Underwater Demolition Teams, (UDTs), during Vietnam is not unlike that of their traditional amphibious support role in other wars. Additionally, they branched out into other land warfar, roles not normally characterized by the term frogmen. A derivative of the UDTs, the SEA, Air, Land Teams, (SEALs), w.r, conceived, born, and forged in their combat role during this era. Throughout the conflict, they played a small, but important part in a wide spectrum of operations. The purpose of this thesis is to describe the role of the UDT/SEAL Teams during the war and present a chronology of their involvement.
